Egyptian Frog Oil Lamp

A very nice and classical egyptian oil lamp with a motive of frog arms/legs around the discus. The frog had great symbolic value and meaning in Egyptian time – it represented life and fertility, the romans inherited this belief - however the meaning became less and less important as time passed.

Provenance: Ex. Private Collection, Charlottenlund.

Culture & Year: Romano-Egyptian, 150 - 400 AD.

Condition: Very fine condition, small crack in bottom - see picture.
