his beautiful and intriguing pre-Columbian terracotta figure from Guerrero, Mexico, depicts a male figure holding his head with one arm while leaning on his knee. The figure is adorned with a headpiece and shoulder pad, suggesting it could possibly be part of the Aztec Empire.
Provenance: Ole Hammer Collection, a zoologist who collected his pieces in the 1950s during his travels to South America. Most of his collection is now housed in the Danish museum ‘Holstebro Art Museum’. This piece was acquired in the Mexican city of Cuernavaca.
