Tang-Dynasty Terracotta Camel

A beautiful and quite rare ancient terracotta camel from the Tang-Dynasty (618 - 907 a.d.). The figure has a few clear facial details with a bit of paint.
The gravfigure tradition originates from the first chinese emperors and was a symbol of status and would protect the owner in the next life.

Provenance: Private collector, acquired in Beijing in the 60's.
