This very fine South-Italian kylix features a black glaze that has faded, revealing the brown clay underneath. It has two horizontal loop handles and was traditionally used as a drinking cup during formal events, such as symposiums in ancient Greece.

Provenance: Ex. private collection in Copenhagen, acquired in the 1970s in the Danish Antique Market.

Culture & Date: South-Italian, 500 - 350 BC.

Condition: Two pieces have been glued (see loop handle).
