This very fine glazed pottery figure depicts a woman nursing her child, originating from the city of Sawankhalok in the province of Sukhothai, Thailand. The figure is glazed in brown and dark green colors. Interestingly, most figures of nursing women from Sawankhalok culture have had their heads removed due to a cultural tradition, but this one remains intact.

Provenance: Ex. deceased estate, Copenhagen.

Culture & Date: 13th - 15th century AD.
