This exceptionally well-maintained body stamp from the Jama-Coaque culture, a pre-Inca civilization from Ecuador, showcases a dragon-like figure (anthropomorphic creature) with distinct teeth, eyes, head, and tongue. Reddish paint residues remain in the crevices, and the clay is greyish and slightly porous. Rarely do items in such near-perfect condition come available, making this piece particularly special. Its provenance from the Lyngby Collection further enhances its value.
Provenance: Former private collection, Inner Copenhagen. Previously part of the Pre-Columbian Lyngby Collection.
