This very nice and classical Egyptian oil lamp features a motif of frog arms and legs around the discus. In ancient Egyptian culture, the frog symbolized life and fertility—a belief inherited by the Romans, though its significance diminished over time.
Provenance: Ex. Private Collection, Charlottenlund.
Culture & Date: Romano-Egyptian, 150 - 400 AD.
Condition: Very fine condition, with a small crack in the bottom (see picture).
