Acheulean Stone Cleaver

This beautiful Acheulean stone cleaver, originating from the Sahara, dates back to the early Paleolithic period, which began approximately 1.7 million years ago and lasted for about 1.5 million years. This lower Paleolithic tool, estimated to be between 1,200,000 and 500,000 years old, represents some of the earliest known tools used by primitive humans and could very well belong to the Abbevillian industry.

Crafted and utilized by African Homo Erectus and early Homo Sapiens, this stone axe was essential for the survival and distribution of early humans. Its creation marks a significant development in human history, reflecting the ingenuity and adaptability of our ancestors.
